Luncheon with Cinco de Mayo Network in Puebla

Objectives

Learn about the objectives and priorities for the Cinco de Mayo Social Club and explore opportunities to strengthen the collaboration between UC Merced and Puebla, particularly between business leaders and universities as partners in promoting Puebla as an education hub and Cinco de Mayo as a celebration to better connect Puebla and the US.

Build on UC Alianza MX’s “Latinos and Mexico” initiative to set a foundation for future cultural activities including a presentation of Dr. David Hayes Bautista’s Cinco de Mayo book as well as foster and promote CA/MX student exchanges.

  • On Thursday August 18, 2022 the University of California Merced delegation met with entrepreneurs of the 5 de Mayo Social Club in Puebla to discuss opportunities to have greater exchanges with the University of California. The Luncheon was attended by various stakeholders from diverse sectors with and special guests that included the Secretary of Economy for Puebla, Olivia Salomón, and Silvio Gonzalez, Minister Counselor for Public Diplomacy, US Embassy Mexico.
