Postdoctoral Research Fellowships

Alianza MX supports a pilot project to provide Postdoctoral Research Fellowships to complete an in-person residency at a UC campus, department, institute, or laboratory. The objectives of this program are to enhance collaborative ties between the UC and Mexico by advancing the research activities and professional development of young scholars under UC supervision and/or through participation in a UC faculty-directed research project.

Eligibility

The program seeks applicants who have completed an undergraduate and/or terminal degree at a Mexican institution of higher education or whose work is directly relevant to US-Mexico research collaboration. Applicants must have received (or be prepared to receive) their doctoral or terminal degree no later than July 1, 2025. Individuals are not eligible to apply if they have 5+ years of postdoctoral research experience or hold a faculty position of associate professor or above.

Conditions

The postdoctoral fellowship supports a full-time, in-person residency beginning no earlier than September 1, 2025. Alianza MX will provide funds to cover the fellow’s salary for 12 months at Level 0. The UC host will be responsible for any salary paid above Level 0 in the first 12 months of the fellow’s residency, salary paid at any level beyond the first 12 months of the residency, and all benefits coverage or adjustments to compensation during the residency.

CURRENT FELLOWS

Postdoctoral Research Fellows: 2025 Cohort

Alianza MX launched a pilot project for Postdoctoral Research Fellowships in Fall 2024 to support for MX nationals seeking to advance their research by joining the UC system no earlier than September 2025. Five (5) applicants will be selected to join this cohort and complete 24-month fellowships in residency on UC campuses.
