New and Noteworthy
 Dear UC Community,

In December, I was appointed by UCR Chancellor Kim Wilcox to lead UC Alianza MX during the transitional period until the appointment of a new director. The search process will be conducted collaboratively with the Office of the UC Vice President for Research & Innovation, Theresa Maldonado.

On the leadership front, we are focused on developing the infrastructure, policies, and procedures to align with UC goals and expectations. I have had the opportunity to meet with the UC Senior International Officers to gather their insights on Alianza MX, and I plan to do the same with my colleagues in the UC Council of Vice Chancellors for Research at an upcoming meeting.

I commend the dedicated staff of Alianza MX for their steadfast commitment to maintaining existing programs, and their support of various events and initiatives involving UC faculty, administrators, and partners in Mexico is truly appreciated. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to them, as well as to the financial and human resources staff in the UCR Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Economic Development, who have worked tirelessly to facilitate this transition.

I firmly believe that UC Alianza MX represents an exceptional resource for our university. I am committed to engaging with all UC campuses to ensure that our community can fully leverage the many opportunities for collaboration with institutions and organizations across the border. Your suggestions and ideas are welcomed and encouraged.

Mis cordiales saludos,
